In art, Native Americans have been the subject of stereotypes in how they should be depicted. Some of the stereotypes imposed by non-Native Americans may be more familiar to us. But there are also stereotypes imposed on Native Americans by themselves. In this presentation, Phoenix Art Museum docent David Obuck will examine some of the attempts to break these stereotypes in art and achieve more personal and truthful depictions.
The program starts at 10 a.m. with refreshments and the presentations are 10:30-11:30 a.m.
